Our Story
Our story begins in 1972, when Tom Porter and his son, Tommy Porter Jr., shared a simple dream: to build a family farm rooted in hard work, integrity, and a love for the land. With just five brood cows, they started small but dreamed big, laying the foundation for what would become a thriving family legacy.
Over the years, those five cows grew into a herd of nearly 400, and Porter Farms became known for its quality, dedication, and deep respect for the farming tradition. What began as a father and son’s vision has evolved into a multigenerational family farm, where each generation brings new ideas, energy, and a shared commitment to preserving and growing what was started more than fifty years ago.
By expanding and innovating, our goal is to create meaningful opportunities and sustainable jobs for future generations, ensuring the Porter family legacy continues to grow right here on North Carolina soil. From our pastures to your table, we’re proud to share a story of tradition, quality, and family, built to last for generations to come.
Our farm store gives us the chance to show our community where their food comes from, to let them see that real farming still exists, and that families like ours are raising quality food with integrity and care.
